Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Befriender to join our team at SeeAbility. As a Volunteer Befriender, you will play a vital role in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss. Your primary responsibility will be to provide companionship and support to our service users, enabling them to participate in activities they enjoy.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide one-to-one support and companionship to individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss
* Accompany service users to various activities, such as concerts, cinema trips, walks, and shopping excursions
* Assist with daily tasks and provide emotional support as needed
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection procedures
* Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge

Requirements

* Be over 18 years old
* Have a good sense of humour and enjoy chatting
* Be punctual and reliable
* Be kind, empathetic, and friendly
* Be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures
* Be able to assist when necessary with sighted guide/orientation
