Deputy Head of Internal Audit

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership in the role of Deputy Head of Internal Audit. As a key member of the Audit and Assurance team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the internal audit function, ensuring that it is aligned with the organization's risk management and assurance frameworks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership to the internal audit team, ensuring that they are equipped to deliver high-quality audit services to the organization.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the internal audit function, aligned with the organization's risk management and assurance frameworks.
- Ensure that the internal audit function is compliant with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and the Code of Ethics.
- Manage the team's delivery against planned commitments and monitor quality and performance against agreed key performance indicators.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board level management and non-executive directors.

Person Specification- Relevant professional qualification (CCAB qualified accountant or MIIA qualified auditor) with post-qualification experience or equivalent knowledge and competence.
- Extensive experience at a management level in the NHS or equivalent complex organization.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience of the principles of effective financial control systems, corporate governance, and internal audit.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, control, and manage complex assignments.
- Ability to identify systems weaknesses and provide management with practical solutions.
