Deputy Head of Internal Audit

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Head of Internal Audit to join our team at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership. As a key member of our Audit and Assurance Service, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality internal audit services to our clients across South Wales.
Key Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership for the internal audit service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audits and reports to our clients.
- Formulate strategic and operational plans in collaboration with the Director of Audit and Head of Internal Audit, aligned with the organization's risk management and assurance frameworks.
- Support the production of audit plans, progress reports, and presentations for audit committees, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Manage the performance and operation of the audit team, ensuring compliance with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and the Code of Ethics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board-level management and non-executive directors, to ensure effective communication and influence.
- Relevant professional qualification (CCAB or MIIA) with post-qualification experience or equivalent knowledge and competence.
- Extensive experience in a management-level role within the NHS or equivalent complex organization, with a proven track record of delivering challenging corporate objectives.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge of internal audit standards, risk management, and assurance frameworks, corporate governance, controls assurance, and control frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and facilitate the development of others.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with a high level of emotional resilience and ability to respond to exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances.
