Deputy Head of Internal Audit

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Head of Internal Audit to join our team at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership. As a key member of our Audit & Assurance Service, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality internal audit services to our clients across South Wales.
Key Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership for the delivery of internal audit services to a number of NHS organisations in South Wales.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit in formulating strategic and operational plans based on an 'Audit Needs Assessment/Risk Assessment.'
- Contribute to the production of an Audit Plan linked to the organisations' Risk Management and Assurance Frameworks.
- Prepare complex information and progress reports for inclusion within the Audit Committee Agendas.
- Attend Audit Committees to present audit reports and provide assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Manage the performance and operation of the team, ensuring that the requirements of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and the Code of Ethics are met.
- Monitor quality and performance against agreed key performance indicators.

- Relevant professional qualification (CCAB qualified accountant or MIIA qualified auditor) with post-qualification experience or equivalent knowledge and competence.
- Extensive experience at a management level in the NHS or equivalent complex organisation.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience of the principles of effective financial control systems, corporate governance, and internal audit.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, control, and manage complex assignments.
- Highly developed analytical, interpretational, and comparative skills capable of dealing with highly complex, confidential, and sensitive information.
