About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mortuary Support Officer to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering mortuary service duties, providing a comprehensive administrative service, and acting as Mortuary Receptionist.

Main Responsibilities

  • To deliver mortuary service duties, including assisting with the booking in and release processes, and supporting tasks for the Bone Bank service.
  • To provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Mortuary, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring efficient communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • To act as Mortuary Receptionist, greeting visitors, and responding to queries in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above.
  • Level 3 qualification NVQ, 2 A-Levels, Apprenticeship, or equivalent working experience in mortuary or funeral directors.
  • Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy.
  • Understanding of job content and ability to work with other colleagues to improve and develop working practices.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with a range of Mortuary techniques.
  • Previous NHS experience or funeral director experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Keyboard and basic IT skills.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
  • Effective Communication skills, written and oral.
  • Evidence of effective time management skills and with a methodical approach.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work.
  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality.
