About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Planning and Performance Director to join our team at Mace. As a key member of our consult business, you will play a critical role in delivering project controls/PMO services for large-scale complex rail, road, bus, or property-related projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Planning Team: Provide planning support for all aspects of project planning, ensuring consistent and competent monitoring, recording, and analysis of performance against baseline and the change control process.
  • Develop and Implement Business Strategy: Identify and embed planning lessons learned to drive business improvement.
  • Manage Planning Work Processes: Implement planning work processes and procedures in accordance with approved pathways and deviations.
  • Assess and Improve Planning Processes: Determine the need for change to planning processes and methods, and implement changes to deliver improved performance.
  • Support Commercial Aspects: Assess contractual schedules and compensation events to support the business in schedule-related commercial aspects.
  • Identify and Analyze Performance: Identify and analyze performance across a program of critical path projects.
  • Plan and Manage Complex Programs: Plan and manage complex multi-project program time schedules to ensure delivery of intended business benefits.
  • Conduct Project Controls Orientation: Conduct project controls orientation/training sessions for program teams and assist senior management with the interpretation of periodic time schedule/cost reports.
  • Provision Training and Development: Provide ongoing training for those in the business unit planning pool to manage capability assessment/development.
  • Collate Best Practice Intelligence: Collate best practice intelligence from external and internal sources to be shared with central areas/business unit.
  • Drive Safety Culture: Accountable for driving and leading a positive safety culture within TfL projects and ensuring team investment in managing and improving HSE performance.
  • Lead Equality and Inclusion: Demonstrate leadership in equality of opportunity, social inclusion, fair employment, and environmental sustainability, creating an open, inclusive, and engaging environment within TfL and across stakeholders, customers, and supply chain.
Requirements
  • Experience in Project Planning: Exposure to working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large-scale construction/civils/infrastructure projects, ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client-side consultancy.
  • Construction-Related Degree: A construction-related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Construction or Project Management Background: A construction or project management background and a hunger to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
