Senior Underwriter Job Description

At THC Recruitment, we are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing consumer credit applications and making informed decisions about lending.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Manage Underwriting Team: You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of underwriters, ensuring they meet service level agreements and maintain an acceptable level of bad debt.
  • Underwrite Customer Applications: You will assess customer applications, verify identification, income, and expenditure, and make credit decisions in line with company policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure Compliance: You will ensure all underwriting activities comply with relevant regulations, including Consumer Duty, Compliance, Data Protection, Anti-Money Laundering, Consumer Credit Directive, and Consumer Credit Act.
  • Manage High Volume Tasks: You will be able to manage a high volume of tasks and meet deadlines, ensuring excellent customer outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Underwriting Experience: You will have previous experience in underwriting, ideally in consumer motor finance lending.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: You will have strong analytical skills, able to understand and interpret financial information.
  • Leadership Skills: You will have leadership skills, able to manage and motivate a team of underwriters.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: You will have knowledge of relevant regulations and laws.
