About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join our team at Lex Leisure. As a key member of our greenkeeping team, you will play a vital role in the management and maintenance of our 18-hole golf course.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Head Greenkeeper in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the course.
  • Supervise and mentor the assistant greenkeeping team, promoting high standards of work and task completion.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the golf course, practice areas, workshops, and general amenity areas.
  • Perform routine in-house machinery maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support the management of weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance programs, working closely with the Head Greenkeeper to optimize course aesthetics.
  • Assist in managing the machine/equipment/buggy fleet, ensuring all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, possessing a working knowledge of legislation relating to chemicals and dangerous substances.
  • Train, develop, and motivate staff to continuously develop their technical skills and user relations.
Requirements
  • A good communicator with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • A team player with a keen eye for detail and initiative to work alone and as part of a team.
  • NVQ Level 2, 3, or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance.
  • PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates (preferred but not essential).
  • CS30 and CS31 chainsaw certificates (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of modern greenkeeping machinery, automated irrigation systems, and health and safety legislation.
