Senior Research Assistant: DNA and RNA Structures

The Balasubramanian group at the University of Cambridge is seeking a talented and motivated researcher to join our team as a senior research assistant. As a senior research assistant, you will investigate base modifications in nucleic acids and their effects on DNA structure, recognition, and function.
This project has significant implications for our understanding of genome function and regulation. You will work closely with the team to develop and apply cutting-edge techniques in chemical biology, molecular biophysics, and structural biology.
Job Description:
Investigation of Base ModificationsBase modifications in nucleic acids can change the structure, recognition, and function of DNA. Our research aims to elucidate these modifications and their effects on the folded structure of DNA, protein-DNA interactions, and the assembly of nucleosomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply advanced techniques in chemical biology, molecular biophysics, and structural biology.
- Conduct experiments to investigate base modifications in nucleic acids.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Strong background in organic chemistry and/or chemical biology.
Salary: £30,383 - £36,901 per annum
