Business Development Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at Recra Consulting. This role is based in Leicester and offers a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the UK's leading Recycling & Waste Management Companies, who are looking for a dedicated Business Development Manager to drive business growth and expand their commercial partnerships.

Your primary responsibility will be to identify and source potential commercial opportunities, maintain relationships with suppliers, and negotiate contracts to secure the best possible terms for the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with the company's objectives and values.
  • To support the Commercial team in ensuring timely and accurate tender submissions, contract negotiations, and other contractual agreements.
  • Determine and prioritize future business growth initiatives, analyzing market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, both existing and prospective, to foster long-term partnerships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Negotiate price agreements and service level contracts to drive improved profitability and value for the company.
  • Analyze market intelligence to stay up-to-date on industry developments and emerging trends.
  • Keep the Company Board of Directors informed on market developments and provide recommendations on strategic directions.
  • To ensure that new business acquired adheres to agreed margin and profitability criteria.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven track record in the wastepaper industry, with a minimum of 2-5 years' experience in waste management and recycling.
  • Understanding of recovered paper and other recycling material qualities.
  • General knowledge of the local authority sector.
  • Success in driving business growth in a competitive commercial environment.
  • Experience in developing tenders and negotiating contracts.
  • Familiarity with UK and European waste and recycling legislation.
  • Educated to a good standard (A-Level or above).
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel for business purposes.
