About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Custody Nurse to join our dynamic team as a Health Care Practitioner (HCP). As a Custody Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals detained by the police or other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and provide care to individuals in custody, ensuring their fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
  • Provide healthcare interventions to manage minor illnesses or injuries, referring onwards for more serious conditions as necessary.
  • Undertake forensic examinations of individuals in police care, recording and documenting injuries and collecting DNA evidence as required.
  • Support the clinical governance agenda of the organisation, ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
  • Administer medications through PGDs (patient group directions) and PTPs (Patient Treatment Protocols).
