Financial Controller

SmartSourcing Ltd is a renowned public sector client seeking an experienced Finance Lead to join their team for a 6 month contract. This role will involve hybrid working arrangements, with two days per week spent in Huntingdon.
This position falls outside of IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate of £450.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Financial Accounts and Income team, with a particular focus on covering the Assistant Director of Finance role. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet, including payroll, payments, receivables, and SBS transactions oversight for monthly financial close
- Preparation of board reports and submission of year-end accounts
- Daily oversight of operational financial services, including setup and payment of suppliers, transactional procurement, payroll, and treasury management
The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to work independently. Required skills include:
- Resolution of payroll issues
- Completion of charity reviews
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Debt collection and management
- Budget holder training
- Financial reconciliations and reporting
