SENCO Secondary School Leader

A dynamic secondary school in South London is actively seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to lead and enhance the school's SEN provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about fostering an inclusive educational environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEN department ensuring effective implementation of the school's SEN policy and procedures.
  • Oversee the development review and management of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Manage and support a dedicated team of SEN support staff providing guidance and training to enhance their effectiveness in delivering tailored support.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN, facilitating regular meetings and communication channels.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN using data to inform interventions and adjustments to support strategies.
  • Lead on training and development opportunities for staff, raising awareness of SEN issues and promoting best practices in inclusive education.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with SEN within the wider school community, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated with current legislation, guidelines, and best practices related to SEN and inclusion, ensuring compliance and alignment with national standards.

Requirements:

  • A recognised SENCO qualification is required, demonstrating your expertise in the field.
  • Proven leadership experience within SEN settings, with a track record of improving outcomes for students with special educational needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to professional development and a passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.
