SEMH Learning Support Assistant Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH challenges.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that supports emotional well-being and positive social interactions.
- Work with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement IEPs and behavior support strategies.
- Apply and reinforce behavior management techniques to help students develop self-regulation and social skills.
- Adapt and differentiate instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of SEMH students.
- Assist students with academic assignments, offering guidance and reinforcing learning.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the teaching team.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Support students in developing resilience and self-esteem through targeted support.
- Engage in professional development to enhance SEMH education skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, with SEMH experience or training preferred.
- Passion for working with students with SEMH challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Knowledge of SEMH strategies and behavior management.
- Teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with educational professionals.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Positive attitude and commitment to personal and professional development.
- Willingness to undergo background checks.
