The Role

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at Mansell Recruitment Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing new electronic products, taking them from concept to manufacturing release. They will work closely with suppliers and mentor junior colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical/electronic solutions, meeting project timescales and quality standards.
• Liaise with Sales, Marketing, and OEM customers to define user interface needs and document them in technical requirements.
• Design both analogue and digital electronic systems, identifying suitable design solutions and taking responsibility for their interface and operation.
• Firmware and user interface software development across a range of products, including defect analysis, debugging, and problem-solving.
• Integration and testing of electronics and software with mechanical hardware, preparing test specifications for use in Development and Production.
• Design to meet safety and legal requirements, including RoHS, Low Voltage Directive, and EMC Directive, and arrange independent test and certification where necessary.

The Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in electronics design and development, with experience in mentoring and training junior engineers. The ideal candidate will have a record of new product development in a similar manufacturing environment, with examples of products designed and launched to market. They will also have practical experience in developing analogue and digital electronics, with competence in PCB design using Altium and SolidWorks.

Requirements

• Strong background in electronics design and development.
• Experience in mentoring and training junior engineers.
• Record of new product development in a similar manufacturing environment, with examples of products designed and launched to market.
• Practical experience in developing analogue and digital electronics, with competence in PCB design using Altium and SolidWorks.
• Programming experience using embedded C, C++, or QML, with Linux being an advantage.
• Ability to analyse field failure trends and manage obsolescence.
• Ability to cope with rapidly changing demands on time and prioritise jobs according to urgency.
