About the Role

Bournemouth University is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. As a Student Support and Engagement Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the help and guidance they need to succeed in their academic pursuits.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be the first point of contact for students who require support with wellbeing issues, and for staff members who have concerns about a student's wellbeing. You will also provide a link between faculties and Student Services on areas of student concerns, including non-engagement and general wellbeing issues that impact upon the student's ability to successfully complete their programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line response to welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups
  • Support students with wellbeing issues and provide guidance on how to access university resources
  • Work with faculties and Student Services to identify and address areas of student concern
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, staff, and external partners to promote a supportive learning environment
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to student wellbeing and engagement

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to work within professional boundaries
  • A good understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • A calm and composed approach to challenging situations
