Student Support and Engagement Coordinator

Bournemouth University is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for its students. As a Student Support and Engagement Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the help and guidance they need to succeed.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be the first point of contact for students with wellbeing issues and concerns. You will also provide a link between faculties and Student Services, working to address non-engagement and general wellbeing issues that impact students' ability to complete their program.
We are looking for someone with experience in addressing welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups. You will need exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to work within professional boundaries. A good understanding of confidentiality and data protection is essential, and you will be able to demonstrate a confident approach in dealing with challenging situations.
This is a high-pressure environment, and we need someone who can remain calm under pressure, multitask efficiently, and be fully aware of professional boundaries. The post is available part-time for 30 hours per week, and consideration may be given to the position being offered as a secondment opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line response to student wellbeing issues and concerns
- Link between faculties and Student Services to address non-engagement and wellbeing issues
- Work with students, staff, and faculty to develop and implement support strategies
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure a comprehensive support system for students
Requirements
- Experience in addressing welfare issues for adult learners and vulnerable groups
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including empathy and professional boundaries
- Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills
