About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Care of the Elderly Consultant to join our team at North Manchester General Hospital.
The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic team of consultants with interests in frailty and falls, supported by a large multidisciplinary team of doctors in training, clinical fellows, ACPs, and a dedicated physiotherapy and occupational therapy team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in General Medicine and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. They will be responsible for providing rapid assessments of general medical patients, stabilizing and managing patients admitted with medical emergencies, and participating in the General Medical on-call rota.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to clinically and educationally supervise junior doctor trainees, participate in regular medical audit, and maintain continuing professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning.
Main Responsibilities
- To provide rapid assessment of general medical patients.
- To stabilise and manage patients admitted with medical emergencies.
- To take part in the General Medical on-call rota with colleagues.
- The successful applicant will have the opportunity to clinically and educationally supervise junior doctor trainees who will be supporting the care of your inpatients.
- To take part in regular medical audit as part of SPA commitment and to use the outcomes of medical audit to improve the care for patients in the Trust and local healthcare economy.
- A commitment to maintaining continuing professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning, with support and time provided to keep up to date with yearly CPD requirements.

Person Specification
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at time of interview.
- Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners.
- Meets the criteria set out in the Specialist generic Capabilities framework - detailed below.
