About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the work of our engineering leadership team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working closely with mechanical engineers and designers to advise on new product design for manufacture and to support transition from design to prototype part production, through to production and embedding new processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working towards process efficiency by reducing waste, reducing cycle times, and reducing machine downtime;
  • Improving manufacturability of current product range and overcoming manufacturing challenges;
  • Creating and maintaining machine routing method plans;
  • Recommending improvements to current manufacturing processes and developing best practices;
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and maximising machining quality and efficiency;
  • Promoting best practice and supporting employees to be the best they can be through training and guidance;
  • Proposing and advising on future capital investment;
  • Working with machine tool suppliers to ensure smooth introduction of new equipment into the business.

Requirements

  • A sound understanding of CNC machine tool programming, setting, and operating;
  • A solid grasp of manufacturing routing to achieve good overall equipment effectiveness;
  • Previous involvement in new product development for manufacture;
  • Prior experience in either new product introduction, manufacturing project work, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, continuous improvement, or similar position;
  • Previous experience of lean manufacturing, Kaizen continuous improvement, design for manufacture, or similar production tools within a precision manufacturing facility;
  • The ability to understand complex engineering drawings;
  • Great communication skills with the ability to talk through complex engineering challenges and its practical implications with colleagues;
  • Some prior experience of using CAD software would be ideal;
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office packages Word and Excel.
