Job Title: Automation Specialist - Electrical and Mechanical Expert
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist - Electrical and Mechanical Expert to join our team at Scottish Water. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake a range of electrical craft skills, including fault finding and diagnosis, overload setting, maintenance to motors, motor starters, generators, lighting, variable speed drives, instrumentation, and the calibration of process equipment.
- Undertake a range of general mechanical craft skills, including maintenance or removal of pumps, pump component replacements, engines, valves, gearboxes, specialist electrical interface hydraulics and pneumatics, fitting, pipe disconnections, and mechanical devices.
- Help figure out what the business needs and set up systems that work like a charm for our telemetry systems.
- Keep our software library in tip-top shape and log all those changes.
- Be the go-to person for fixing, maintaining, and calibrating field instrumentation.
- Use your skills to improve the information we collect and join the team to speed up field automation tasks.
- Send out reports about maintenance, data quality, and calibration.
- Configure and support the day-to-day requirements of users regarding functionality and accessibility within the telemetry/PLC/IMCC/SCADA systems.
Requirements:
- A full apprenticeship and an HNC or NC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, customer-focused setup.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid UK driver's license.
