Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist/Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team in the Chronic Pain clinic. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the assessment and treatment of patients with chronic pain and mental health needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have relevant clinical qualifications and registration with an appropriate professional body. They will possess theoretical knowledge of psychological ways of working, deploying a wide range of theoretical approaches and utilizing various clinical skills appropriate to individual patient needs.

You will be accountable for assessing care needs and outcomes for patients presenting to the Chronic Pain clinic, including how psychological distress may impact engagement with the service. You will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to consider pre-existing mental health needs and share psychological formulations, knowledge, and expertise.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide a consultation-liaison service to clinicians in the Chronic Pain team and relevant community teams.
  2. Give specialist advice on care, treatment, and patient management.
  3. Assess and develop plans of care to meet complex patient needs.
  4. Work with the chronic pain team to maintain good working practices and adhere to NELFT policies.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Experience of working in Community Mental Health settings at band 6 or above.
  • Skills in working with trauma and PTSD presentations.
  • Skill in managing significant mental health difficulties, including forensic and dual diagnosis presentations.
  • A sound knowledge and experience in relation to factors that cause psychological distress or mental health needs.
Salary and Benefits

This role attracts a salary of £51,411 per annum (Band 7), plus a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% (£7,721 per annum). The position also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, annual leave, and training opportunities.
