About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Highways Engineer to join our team in the M25 DBFO. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and refining design packages for various highway renewal schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review design packages for highway renewal schemes, including drainage, signage, fencing, and VRS.
  • Support the Change in Standards team in reviewing new standards and assessing potential impacts.
  • Prepare documentation to discharge the duties of the CDM 2015 Principal Designer.
  • Apply quality management processes and manage the quality of outputs, ensuring adherence to standards and process compliance with the M25 DBFO Contract.
  • Work closely with technical specialists and commercial leads to achieve agreed programmes and key milestones.
  • Build strong relationships within a cross-functional collaborative team.
  • Provide progress updates, programme management, and reporting of assigned work.
  • Chair performance, technical, and commercial review meetings.
  • Provide information to the commercial team to enable cost estimates.
  • Continuously improve the Change in Standards process.
  • Review new standards and liaise with National Highways on the CPS response to implementation.

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of Design, Manual of Roads and Bridges (DMRB), The Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW), and other highways standards.
  • Experience of delivering highway design.
  • Understanding of risk management principles.
  • Minimum BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
