About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our team at Extreme Event Solutions, specializing in catastrophe risk management. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for working closely with clients, research organizations, and universities to enhance their awareness and understanding of our models and products.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. You will work collaboratively with our international team to promote research efforts through the interpretation and improvement of our catastrophe models.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret and explain Verisk's catastrophe models to clients, prospects, and academia, providing reliable assessments and management of catastrophe loss potential.
  • Contribute to the development and internal evaluation of Verisk models, supporting clients in model evaluations and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and deliver presentations to clients and research organizations on existing models and model changes, as well as write technical documentation.
  • Develop innovative projects requiring own research, potentially for internal R&D or external consultancy projects within the insurance sector.
  • Represent Verisk at industry and academic conferences, presenting Verisk models and original research in oral and poster sessions.
Requirements
  • A PhD or MSc in applied natural science or engineering, preferably in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics, Climate Science, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics, or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including a solid understanding of probability concepts and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication, particularly the ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is essential, with coding skills in languages such as SQL, R, Python being beneficial.
