Positive Behaviour Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Positive Behaviour Support Specialist to join our team at Aspirations Care Ltd. As a key member of our Complex Care Services team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health issues, and Autism to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake referral assessments to support our operational colleagues and work collaboratively with internal and external professionals to promote the rights of individuals we support.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Positive Behaviour Support plans, including direct and indirect assessments, and review their efficacy using positive monitoring.
- Assist with transitions programmes for individuals moving into new homes, using appropriate company documentation.
- Generate Positive Behaviour Support Plans for service users and ensure ongoing review of their appropriateness to their needs, in partnership with the leadership team and support workers.
- Promote the Restraint Reduction Training Standards by demonstrating our commitment to endorsing the rights of individuals whose distress communication has been described as challenging and reducing the use of restrictive practice.
- Cultivate a shared understanding of the function of behaviour and develop strategies to help individuals develop alternative methods of communication to achieve the same purpose.
- Ensure outcome data relating to distress communication events is collected, analysed, and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Deliver CPD sessions to teams when required and work alongside other business support departments for the benefit of those in receipt of support.
- Promote and input into the development of a reflective organisational culture that learns from experience and draws on this learning to improve outcomes for individuals we support.
- Support co-production by involving individuals we support in their care and support.
- Have excellent organisational skills to manage a caseload and plan intervention, coaching, and liaison effectively given the often-unpredictable nature of demand.
- Practice leadership by leading by example and on occasions being on shift with staff to support the implementation of strategies where appropriate.
- Experience of providing support to individuals utilising the framework of Positive Behaviour Support.
- A full driving licence and access to own vehicle (car allowance included).
- Prepared to regularly travel as required for service visits and meetings.
- Person-centred beliefs, values, and attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team in a leadership capacity, leading and influencing others positively.
- An in-depth understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
- A history of conducting behavioural assessments and developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions for individuals.
- A history of direct support experience with individuals with learning disabilities and/or Autism, and behaviours of concern.
- A history of reducing the use of restrictive practices.
- A history of delivering Positive Behaviour Support training.
- Excellent record-keeping and written skills, including report writing.
- A detailed understanding of the legal frameworks and policy relevant to the role, including the Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS, Safeguarding, and risk management.
- Integrity and resilience to provide the best possible services to individuals we are entrusted to support.
- Understanding of the importance of identifying strategies that reduce or prevent the use of restrictive practices.
- The ability to overcome barriers and embrace opportunities to explore creative thinking.
- A formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support or a related field, such as a BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies, PBS Graduate Diploma, or PBS BTEC Level 5 (advanced professional Diploma).
