Job Title: Deputy News Editor - Planning

TVZ is seeking a highly skilled Deputy News Editor - Planning to lead the planning team for our 5 News channel. As a key member of the editorial team, you will be responsible for planning future coverage and news events, identifying and arranging stories, and overseeing the work of Assistant News Editors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning team to develop and implement editorial plans for TV and digital news coverage
  • Identify and arrange stories, working closely with the news team to ensure coverage is comprehensive and engaging
  • Oversee the work of Assistant News Editors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality planning and execution
  • Collaborate with the news team to develop and implement social media and digital content strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, identifying opportunities for TVZ to innovate and improve its news coverage

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in editorial planning and management, preferably in a TV news environment
  • Strong understanding of the TV news agenda and the ability to spot distinctive and exclusive content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team
  • Knowledge of social media and digital content creation, with the ability to develop and implement effective strategies
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills
