Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy News Editor to lead our next-day and further ahead planning for TV and digital. As a key member of the 5 News team, you will be responsible for planning future coverage and news events, identifying and arranging stories, and overseeing the work of Assistant News Editors on the planning team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement editorial plans for TV and digital news coverage
  • Identify and arrange stories, working closely with the news team and other departments
  • Oversee the work of Assistant News Editors on the planning team
  • Collaborate with the news team to ensure cohesive and engaging content
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to inform planning decisions

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in editorial planning and coordination
  • Strong understanding of the 5 News agenda and ability to spot distinctive and exclusive content
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of social media and digital content creation
