Job Overview

In a challenging and rewarding role as Fire Suppression Systems Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of water mist fire suppression systems within custodial establishments.

Your primary objective will be to conduct thorough maintenance, repairs, and servicing work on these critical systems, adhering to industry standards, safety guidelines, and manufacturer specifications.

To succeed in this position, you will need to possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Maintenance & Repairs:
    • Carry out detailed maintenance and repair tasks on water mist fire suppression systems, identifying and labeling removed system components for further investigation.
    • Follow established service instructions, safety protocols, and manufacturer guidelines to ensure optimal system performance and minimize downtime.
  • Planning & Preparation:
    • Equip yourself with necessary tools, equipment, and service kits before embarking on each job, ensuring seamless execution.
    • Collaborate with the office team to procure additional supplies or parts required for successful completion of tasks.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Maintain professional relationships with customers and their staff, representing Andrews Recruitment Group with exceptional customer service and conduct.
    • Foster trust by delivering high-quality services, exceeding customer expectations through proactive communication and efficient issue resolution.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Precisely complete all necessary paperwork, whether physical or digital, for each task, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Submit completed documents to the office in a timely manner, facilitating seamless record-keeping and quality assurance.
  • Call-Out Duties:
    • Respond promptly to call-outs during designated periods, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to meeting deadlines.
    • Ensure availability for call-outs, reporting any conflicts or scheduling issues to the office for prompt resolution.
  • Service Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Perform regular checks on assigned service vehicles, submitting completed vehicle check sheets and notifying the office of any driving-related concerns.
  • Equipment Management:
    • Maintain work equipment, including ladders, PAT testing, calibrations, and pre-use checks, guaranteeing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Purchasing:
    • Evaluate credit card purchases to ensure they are work-related and maintain accurate records, upholding company policies and financial controls.
  • Training & Development:
    • Complete assigned training courses within allocated timeframes, reinforcing your knowledge and skillset.
    • Maintain valid CSCS or similar competency cards, showcasing your commitment to ongoing development.
  • Workshop/Stores/Yard:
    • Adhere to workshop and PPE protocols when operating equipment, prioritizing safety and maintaining a clean working environment.
    • Notify the stores of used stock, promoting efficient inventory management and minimizing waste.
  • Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE):
    • Comply with QHSE policies, reporting incidents or concerns promptly to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of water mist fire suppression systems and the fire prevention sector.
    • Prior experience in field engineer roles or equivalent technical qualifications is highly desirable.
  • Electrical Engineering:
    • Hold a Level 3 qualification in electrical engineering (minimum).
    • The 18th Edition qualification is strongly recommended.
  • Competence:
    • Able to pass manufacturer courses on relevant equipment, showcasing adaptability and willingness to learn.
    • Demonstrate technical awareness and problem-solving skills, applying theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid UK driving license.
    • Able to work in custodial establishments, requiring Enhanced Level 1 Security Clearance.
