Canary Wharf, Greater London, United Kingdom Queen Mary University of London Full time

About the Role

The Multi-Skilled Technician role at Queen Mary University of London is a critical position that requires strategic engineering service delivery to ensure the provision, development, and management of an extensive portfolio of hard and soft services. This role supports the achievement of the university's strategic plan by enabling staff and students to work and learn efficiently and effectively.

As a member of the Estates and Facilities (EAF) engineering team, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all services are proactive, driven to adopt industry best practices, and methodologies. The goal is to deliver high-quality, solution-focused reliable and resilient estates technical services.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated professional with a proven record of accomplishment in successfully managing and delivering an effective maintenance service. The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in Engineering or a building-related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, with experience of maintenance management.

About the Department

Currently, we have a shortage of shift multi-skilled technicians, which is being covered by agency. However, this is not cost-effective, and therefore these roles need to be filled. Without these roles, we will not be able to deliver the critical out-of-hours service that enables the Estates and Facilities operations team to provide an in-house response to emergencies across the campuses.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable. Throughout our history, we've fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. We continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it's simply 'the right thing to do' but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days' leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme, and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work-life balance and family-friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

Queen Mary's commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
