Job Title: Consultant Physician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with a range of conditions, including stroke and general medicine.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide outpatient and inpatient stroke medicine services, including acute stroke care and rehabilitation.
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses for general medical inpatients.
  • Participate in the 1 in 11 consultant general medical emergency on-call rota, including cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff, including observation of local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required, and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
Person Specification:
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine and either Stroke Medicine or Geriatrics via CCT, CESR or European Community rights.
  • High level of clinical experience and competence in GIM, Care of the Elderly and Stroke Medicine.
Requirements:
  • Recognised training programme in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly with experience of Stroke Medicine.
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.
