About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHEQ Manager to join our team at Gist Limited. As a key member of our SHEQ function, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters across our logistics and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the General Manager to ensure compliance with relevant legal, IMS standards, and ISO requirements at our designated sites.
  • Provide competent health, safety, and environmental advice to site leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the implementation of SHEQ strategy and initiatives to drive improvement and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Review accident trends, hazard reporting data, and IMS dashboard information to identify corrective actions and emerging risks.
  • Undertake SHEQ management systems audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assume lead incident investigator role for Level 3 incidents and support site management in other investigations.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety action plans and monitor progress.
  • Manage and support the launch and implementation of SHEQ team project initiatives.
  • Oversee training requirements and ensure consistent and appropriate training is delivered effectively.
  • Manage emergency planning and arrangements to ensure readiness for any eventuality.
  • Be the subject matter expert on EcoOnline and provide support to site management teams.
  • Monitor IMS module inspections and reviews to ensure corrective actions are raised and owned by leadership teams.
  • Implement and share best practices and key learnings across locations to drive consistency and improvement in SHEQ performance.
  • Facilitate and manage local insurance claims.
  • Act as primary contact for external agencies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and create operational documentation to reflect work done and in line with what good looks like.
About You
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and minimum Grad member of IOSH (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of SHEQ principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety management role within a medium or high-risk industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive improvement and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Knowledge of logistics and distribution sector, including familiarity with materials handling equipment (MHE).
  • Experience in accident and incident management and investigation skills.
  • Self-starter and driven to deliver results with minimal day-to-day guidance.
  • Ability to deliver within a busy and pressurised work environment.
