Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled pharmacist to join our Clinical Trials team as an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective handling of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) and will work closely with the pharmacy team to provide high-quality clinical trials services.

Key Responsibilities
  • IMPs Management: Assist in the checking and releasing of aseptically prepared products to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Clinical Trials Coordination: Coordinate the pharmaceutical input into the setting-up, design, and running of clinical trials, including close liaison with pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff and the Research and Development department.
  • Deputy Lead Pharmacist: Act as deputy to the lead pharmacist for the provision of IMPs for all active clinical trials.
  • Protocol Review: Support in the critical review of clinical trial protocols on their impact on pharmacy, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Costing and Documentation: Assist in producing and checking costings for clinical trials and raising, completing, and implementing relevant IMP and Non-IMP documents.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide written instructions and training for pharmacy staff on how to dispense, label, check, handle IMPs, and perform code-breaks.
  • Leadership and Management: Directly manage a band 6 pharmacist if required and assist in planning and implementing change management projects.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and Non-Medical Prescriber qualification.
  • Aptitude and Abilities: Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity, and effectiveness at all levels, and potential management ability.
  • Knowledge: Relevant demonstrable post-registration experience as a pharmacist in the UK, broad proven knowledge base of clinical areas, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
