Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our acute medicine service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our patients.

The successful candidate will have recent comprehensive experience in Acute Medicine and Respiratory Medicine, as well as experience of audit and its role in Clinical Governance. You will be a strong leader with effective leadership and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff and other health professionals.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality acute care across the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us to continue to improve the delivery of emergency care to our acutely ill medical patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated consultant to develop their skills and contribute to the ongoing development of our acute medicine services. Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high quality consultant-delivered care to patients
  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality acute care across the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary
  • Liaising with clinicians and managers to address any issues arising that may affect the services
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the acute medicine services at WWL
Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need:

  • Recent comprehensive experience in Acute Medicine and Respiratory Medicine
  • Experience of audit and its role in Clinical Governance
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff and other health professionals
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, including a basic salary of £145,607 per annum (based on 2023-24 scales) and a generous benefits package, including pension scheme and annual leave entitlement.
