About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Assistant Designer to join our team at Next. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for supporting the creation and development of seasonal design ranges across Special Purchase and Kidswear.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design team in creating and developing seasonal design ranges that meet commercial and creative objectives.
- Work closely with the design director and concept team to drive strategic objectives and implement seasonal design direction.
- Assist in the creation of a broad variety of styles that respond to briefs, embracing a commercial eye and a think outside the box approach.
- Develop exciting new product ranges and assist in creating CADs, colour-ups, and other design materials.
- Perform ad-hoc responsibilities on behalf of the team, including product racking, artwork submissions, and other tasks as required.
- Conduct customer-led research, including store visits, competitive shops, and inspirational shopping, to inform design decisions.
Requirements
- Relevant fashion design degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Illustrator and strong design skills.
- Excellent trend prediction and ability to translate into contemporary relevance for the Next brand.
- Strong commercial acumen, customer understanding, and market positioning.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, build strong relationships, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Resourcefulness, drive, and a genuine sense of ownership.
