About the Job:

This position involves providing and supervising mental health services to residents at Juvenile Correctional Centers (JCCs) and detention/intake facilities. The goal is to promote residents' well-being and facilitate rehabilitation.

Responsibilities:

Conduct initial and exit screenings and evaluations, coordinate and evaluate assessment services, participate in on-call rotation, provide clinical supervision and training.

Initial Basic Skills Training:

Candidates must commit to a three-week academy held at the Virginia Public Safety Training Center. The training includes classroom instruction, skill-based classes, practical application, and scenario-based sessions.

Requirements:

Able to assess clinical competencies and develop them in subordinate staff for best practices. Considerable knowledge of adolescent development and psychopathology, with an advanced degree in psychology.

Familiarity with psychodiagnostic assessment, psychopathology, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy. Required skills include providing clinical supervision, administering and interpreting tests, interviewing and therapy techniques, and report writing.

Strong clinical judgment, organization, independence, communication skills, and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure as a clinical psychologist, experience conducting psychological evaluations, and providing services in an institutional setting with justice-involved youth. Experience in clinical and administrative supervision is preferred.

Salary:

An estimated annual salary of $73,000 - $83,000 based on location and experience.
