About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our Neonatal Unit team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, ensuring that care is evidence-based and of a high standard.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in neonatal nursing, with experience in providing clinical leadership and expertise to nursing staff. You will be responsible for inducting new staff into the Trust and facilitating the personal and professional development of staff, identifying training and development needs and providing suitable development opportunities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership in the Band 6 role, offering expertise, advice, and support to all nursing staff.
  • Take a proactive approach to the development of clinical skills within the unit team, ensuring that practice reflects local standards and policies and are in keeping with relevant professional standards.
  • Ensure the best interest of the babies are upheld at all times.
  • Review and reflect on practice in the clinical area and ensure that an awareness of evidence-based practice informs the way care is delivered in the unit.

Person Specification
  • NMC Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • NLS certification
Skills and Abilities
  • The ability to assess patients; develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care.
  • The ability to safely administer medicines in accordance with Professional guidance on the administration of medicines in healthcare settings 2019 by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
Experience
  • Neonatal nursing experience post-neonatal qualification
Knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • A level of nursing knowledge consistent with at least two years post-registration experience and continued learning.
