About the Role

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Finance Officer to join their finance team. As a key member of the finance leadership team, you will be responsible for the management of the finance team, working closely with operational managers to set, monitor and manage team and service line budgets.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing the finance team to ensure the delivery of high-quality financial services to the Trust
  • Working closely with operational managers to set and manage budgets, ensuring that teams maintain spend within planned levels
  • Ensuring that the department maintains monthly budget monitoring and supports service and team leads to manage expenditure within planned levels
  • Supporting and overseeing the training of finance and non-finance staff to ensure they are equipped to deliver the necessary support and management of team level budgets

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • CCAB professional qualification
  • In-depth knowledge of NHS statutory returns
  • Significant experience of delivering robust budgets and forecasts, including coordinating the efforts of others
  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS accounts and management of the external audit process
  • Cash management in an environment where cash-flow is a constant challenge
  • Expert knowledge of NHS financial policies and guidance/accounting standards, and the ability to advise the Trust on their implementation
  • Experience of managing a team of diverse experience and abilities
