Job Summary

The Deputy Chief Finance Officer will be responsible for the management of the finance team, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The postholder will manage the final accounts process, monthly monitoring returns, and annual NHS financial planning.

Main Duties

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance team, working closely with operational managers to set, monitor, and manage team and service line budgets. The accountability of teams to maintain spend within planned levels, whilst delivering income targets, is critical to the ability of the Trust to attain its key short and long-term strategic and business objectives.

Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the postholder will ensure that the department maintains monthly budget monitoring and supports service and team leads to manage expenditure within planned levels.

The postholder will also support and oversee the training of finance and non-finance staff so they are trained and equipped to deliver the necessary support and management of team-level budgets.
