Pig Care Specialist

Cranswick Country Foods PLC is a leading food producer with a focus on delivering high-quality products. We are seeking a skilled Pig Care Specialist to join our team at our Northallerton farm. The farm is a key nursery to finisher unit within our pig breeding operation, supplying pigs from nursery up to finishing.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with an indoor, 5-place nursery and a 7-place finishing unit alongside a 1-breed sow unit. They will assist with breeding unit tasks as required and perform daily duties including feeding, vaccinating, moving, and handling pigs. Additionally, they will load and unload pigs as needed, complete and maintain pig data and records in a timely manner, and maintain the condition and appearance of the farm to high standards.
Main Duties:
- Working with an indoor, 5-place nursery and a 7-place finishing unit alongside a 1-breed sow unit.
- Assisting with breeding unit tasks as required.
- Daily duties include feeding, vaccinating, moving, and handling pigs.
- Loading and unloading pigs as required.
- Completing and maintaining pig data and records in a timely manner.
- Maintaining the condition and appearance of the farm to high standards.
- Operating farm machinery/equipment.
You will need:
- Experience running a large nursery and finishing unit is preferred.
- Wet feed system experience is preferred.
- A keen interest in the pig industry and animal welfare is advantageous.
- Farrowing house experience is desirable.
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks fully with strong attention to detail is a must.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to exceed expectations.
Due to the rural location, your own transport is necessary.
