Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Diabetes and Endocrinology team as a Clinical Support Practitioner.

The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care, undertaking phlebotomy, dynamic function testing, and administering prescribed medication in accordance with trust protocols and guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside the Diabetes and Endocrine Multidisciplinary team in the provision of patient care
  • Undertaking phlebotomy and dynamic function testing in accordance with trust protocols and guidelines
  • Administering prescribed medication in a safe and timely manner
  • Delivering direct patient education and promoting effective communication with patients, relatives, and the MDT
  • Liaising with Primary and Secondary care colleagues to facilitate the safe handover of patient care plans

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as experience in working in a healthcare setting in a clinical supporting role.

Part-time hours are available, with a focus on flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Assistant Practitioner with a health-related Foundation Degree
  • Basic Maths, English, and IT skills
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting in a clinical supporting role
  • Competent in the use of manual blood pressure, pulse, Oxygen saturation, and weight
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an MDT across organisational and professional boundaries
  • Experience in providing patient education or training
