Job Summary

As a Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff with the City of Birmingham, you will play a vital role in maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and responding to emergency calls. You will be responsible for enforcing criminal and traffic laws, investigating criminal activity, and providing a visible police presence in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine patrols to prevent and detect crime, and respond to emergency calls.
  • Enforce laws and regulations, and issue warnings and citations as necessary.
  • Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Provide support to the community through community policing initiatives and public education programs.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to address crime and public safety issues.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of law enforcement procedures and protocols, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as criminal justice or law enforcement, is preferred. Additionally, experience in law enforcement or a related field is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This role will require you to work in a variety of settings, including patrol cars, police stations, and community centers. You will also be required to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
