About the Role

We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee the volunteering work stream of the Involvement Team at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. This role involves leading on best practice recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers, as well as developing effective systems, policies, and processes for volunteering within the trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead on the best practice recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers.
  • To develop strategies, processes, and policies that promote best practice in recruiting and supporting volunteers and assist clinical staff in providing a positive experience for our volunteers.
  • To work with service user and carer networks, local communities, professional bodies, and voluntary organisations to recruit involvement volunteers and identify potential placement opportunities.
  • To ensure involvement members who volunteer undertake any relevant training that will help support them in their role.
  • To coordinate appropriate events/activity/promotions that demonstrate and acknowledge the value that volunteers have within our organisation.

Person Specification

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A good standard of education with a relevant qualification or appropriate portfolio of training in community and/or health, social care, or a related field is essential.
  • Mental health-related qualifications such as mental health first aid coaching are also desirable.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience of managing and developing a project or service is highly desirable.
  • Prioritising, planning, and organising own and others tasks is also desirable.
  • Data entry, reporting, and/or monitoring experience is highly desirable.
  • Recent experience of working in the mental health sector at band 5 or equivalent is highly desirable.

Salary

An estimated salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum.
