Job Description:

The Plant Science and Herbarium Program is seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our team. As a key member of the program, you will play a crucial role in planning and supervising volunteer programs and related activities at the Western Australian Herbarium.

About the Role:

This is a 24-month fixed-term, part-time (FTE) position based in Kensington. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and personal interest in planning, coordinating and supervising volunteer programs, as well as well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and supervise volunteer programs and related activities
  • Undertake image management and collections curation
  • Motivate and encourage volunteers to achieve program goals
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve program objectives

Selection Criteria:

  1. Relevant experience and personal interest in planning, coordinating and supervising volunteer programs
  2. Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills
  3. Relevant experience with photography, scanning, and manipulation and management of digital images
  4. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

Eligibility: To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.

Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $79,156 - $84,977 pro rata plus 11% Superannuation.
