Job Title: Specialist Child Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Child Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 student with behavioural and emotional challenges. The ideal candidate will have a patient and understanding approach, with the ability to work closely with the child and the school's wider nurture team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide direct support to the child, using de-escalation and calming strategies to manage challenging behaviours
* Assist the child in regulating emotions and settling into daily routines, offering patient guidance and positive reinforcement
* Work as part of the school's nurture team, supporting the child primarily but stepping in to help with other children or tasks as required
* Maintain open communication with school staff, ensuring the child's progress and challenges are regularly shared and discussed

Requirements:

* Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral needs
* Understanding of mental health challenges in children, including trauma-informed approaches
* DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, working closely with staff to support the child's individual needs
