Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paediatric Surgery Clinical Fellow to join our team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all duties of a Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar, participating in a 1 in 8 compliant on-call rota and supporting the provision of the outreach service.

Main Duties

  • The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar, participating in a 1 in 8 compliant on-call rota and the supporting the provision of the outreach service.
  • There are a number of academic meetings in the department. These meetings frequently involve members of other disciplines. There are also separate meetings run by the neonatal, infectious diseases, community and neurology teams.
  • There is a regular programme of audit meetings. There are very active programmes of clinic and research meetings in other departments throughout the medical school. All staff are invited to attend.
  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.

  • To ensure skills are up-to-date and relevant to the role, to follow relevant Trust policies and professional codes and to maintain registration where this is a requirement of the role.

  • To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the needs of the service.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Full registration with GMC
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • APLS/PALS/EPLS/NLS1

  • At least 1-2 years experience in paediatric surgery
