Business Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Procurement Manager to join our team in Southampton. The primary goal of this role is to develop and implement procurement strategies that drive business efficiency and improve supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary procurement partner for stakeholders, understanding their business needs and providing expert advice on procurement-related matters.
- Maintain expertise in the regional market landscape and local procurement practices, ensuring compliance with site and company requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships, including visits, reviews, risk assessments, and resolving procurement issues.
- Oversee the tendering and contract approval processes, collaborating with business stakeholders and the legal department.
- Develop and implement local category strategies, leading cross-functional teams as needed.
- Negotiate pricing to ensure the lowest cost and source new business opportunities.
- Manage the procurement of parts and services on a just-in-time basis within defined quality parameters and best price.
- Proven track record of procurement experience directly or indirectly with respect to a container terminal operation, oil & gas industry, chemical process industry, or heavy industrial plant machinery.
- International procurement experience would be beneficial.
- Experience with managing a team of procurement specialists.
- Thorough understanding of software applications for purchasing such as IBM Maximo and Oracle Fusion.
- Certified or actively seeking certification in National Purchasing Management Association, CIPS or similar (Desired but not essential).
- Ability to travel to our other port when necessary.
- A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads.
