Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support the implementation of procurement strategy and policies, ensuring compliance with procedures by internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities, completing requirements to buy goods and services in line with agreed-upon policies and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the negotiation of favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers.
  • Apply the five rights of purchasing and value for money criteria to any purchase of goods and services for all departments at DPWS.
  • Promote the use of competitive pricing with suppliers through monitoring prices and obtaining quotations when appropriate.
  • Monitor lead times, deliveries of goods and services and take actions to remedy delays and improve lead time performance.
  • Collate data required for the fulfilment of targets for the procurement and supply function and necessary to improve performance.
  • Maintain procurement files by tracking purchasing activity and measurements.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, as necessary for the business with the supplier.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of procurement experience directly or indirectly with respect to a container terminal operation, oil & gas industry, chemical process industry, or heavy industrial plant machinery.
  • Proven experience to execute procurement strategy.
  • Knowledge of Maximo/Oracle or similar systems.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting, materials and purchasing.
  • Knowledge in the procurement landscape.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation and communication skills - written and oral to deal with a wide range of customers and stakeholder levels - both internal and external.
  • Ability to travel to our other port when necessary.
  • A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads.
