About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Ward Manager in the overall management of the ward, including the assessment of care needs, development of care plans, and evaluation of service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the ward team in the absence of the Ward Manager, providing clinical advice and support as needed.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality inpatient care, adhering to current health policy initiatives and best practices.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in conjunction with patients, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of compassion, collaboration, excellence, integrity, and respect within the team.
  • Participate in employee development reviews and appraisals, contributing to the growth and development of team members.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Mental Nurse with current registration.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, including mentoring and assessing ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • Management of Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) Training and Immediate Life Support Training.
  • Recent experience working and managing within an inpatient setting, with experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of current health policy initiatives and the implications for service delivery.
  • Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Able to record information accurately and write reports, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
