Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Macmillan Breast Care Nurse to join the Breast Team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.

The post holder will work alongside the Breast Care Nurses as a member of the Macmillan Breast Care Nursing Team to provide a quality service for patients with breast cancer.

The service will be based on a framework of knowledge and experience within the field of breast surgery and oncology medicine.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a member of the breast multi-disciplinary team within the secondary care setting.

The post holder will autonomously liaise with patients, carers, consultants, GP's and related therapists providing information, Holistic Needs Assessments, supporting health promotion and support for patients with early and metastatic breast cancer from diagnosis and at every stage throughout their complex breast cancer pathway.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert psychological and clinical support for patients and their relatives/carers
  • Referral to psychological support as appropriate to implement a recovery package for patients
  • Oversee the support of patients living with and beyond breast cancer and patients with metastatic breast disease
