Dreadnought Class Submarine Engineer

About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Dreadnought Class Submarine Engineer to join our Trident Engineering team in Barrow-in-Furness. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integration of the Strategic Weapons System and Supporting Systems into the Dreadnought Class Submarine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering support and input to Task Authorisation Forms and rectification of GFE material
  • Reviewing US-supplied documents for impact on the UK platform and distributing them to internal stakeholders for review and comment
  • Engaging with the Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request process to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted
  • Providing SQEP to assist with verification of US and UK requirements
  • Assisting in the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability
  • Encouraging and guiding continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate

Your Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Chartership or working towards
  • Understanding of the role of an SSBN, its mission, and how the Strategic Weapon System contributes to it
  • Understanding of the operation of the SWS and the platform equipment and services required to allow it to meet availability targets

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the US-supplied product and how they impact on UK platform design
  • Ability to contribute to the SWS Engineering/integration aspects of documentation reviews, design reviews, and decision panels
  • Basic understanding of Life Cycle Management
