About the Role

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to managers and staff
  • Assess training needs and deliver training programs to up to 15 people
  • Encourage effective working between Occupational Health, Human Resources, and Managers
  • Engage and influence senior managers on health and safety performance reporting
  • Work with Directorates on health and safety improvement initiatives across a large geographical area
  • Provide additional support for specialist areas, including risk, assurance, and improvement

Person Specification

  • Postgraduate qualification to masters level in occupational health and safety or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Possession of Chartered Safety Practitioner with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or working towards
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
  • Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor providing advice, training, auditing, policy formation, facilitating consultation, and planning
  • Experience of working for a multi-site organization
  • Experience of accident investigation, inspections, and audit
  • Experience of working closely with occupational health to find practical and effective workplace solutions
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
